My husband and I no longer live together.
He gave up his well-paid
job after I encouraged him to follow his dream. We sold the house in 2007 and he started work as a research scientist in Portugal: solving the CO2 problem. This need disappeared quickly because of an economic crisis.
He came up with a new project that he worked on successfully for 5 years, but his contract was not extended.
Since then, he and other scientists have succeeded in carrying out new projects. The funding for their research comes from Europe but feels uncertain.
He roams around Europe and the monthly journey home takes longer and longer. In 2019, he started working on a scientifically fascinating project in Germany.
Unfortunately, he got stuck a few months ago while measuring his samples. At such moments, his 'lifestyle' affects us and him in particular. Through Skype I hear his frustration and disappointment. I listen but am not able to hold him.
The question arises as to whether his adventure has been worth it all.
